100% functionality: A look back on the successful Formula E season

The Formula E season reached its spectacular finale with the last race taking place on July 24, 2019, against the backdrop of the New York City skyline. The drivers as well as the LSP GmbH team have eight months of excitement, fun and adrenaline to look back on now. “You’re always a little bit on edge, thinking about whether everything is going to go smoothly on race days, but we know that our braking system is one of the most safety-critical elements of a Formula E race car,” explains Simon Zollitsch, Development Manager.

The results of Season 5 tell the story: LSP delivered systems to nine teams, each of which ran 13 races plus three test races. In a total of 144 races and countless test and development runs there was not one hardware failure. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the team confirms the maturity and quality of the braking systems from LSP. The step from prototype to small series supplier has been successfully made, right down the line.

For LSP that means: After the race is before the race. During the summer break, all braking systems will be subjected to a thorough revision and upgrade in order to keep up with the increasing customer demands for the upcoming Season 6 of Formula E. And it all starts again on November 22, 2019, in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, when “we go green!”
